Why the Flatback Fuss?

Let's talk about flatback studs, the unsung heroes of the piercing world. Why do we love them so much? Well, it's all about comfort, customization, and a touch of cool.

Comfort is Key

The secret lies in their name: flat back. This design genius means they sit snugly against your ear, without any pesky protrusions poking you. This makes them perfect for those tricky piercings like the conch, tragus, and helix. Imagine, no more uncomfortable nights or annoying snags on your hair or clothes!

Customize Your Comfort

But wait, there's more! Every ear is unique. Some lobes are thicker, some are thinner. So, flat backs come in varying sizes. Generally with a fresh piercing, you'll get a longer flat back to accommodate for swelling. Then you switch it out after a month or so for a snugger fit. We sell our jewelry with the piercing in mind being healed. Therefore, we provide a medium size with each order. If you want to switch it out you can always go to reputable piercing studio to get measured for your exact fit.

If you have previously only had butterfly backs, you may need help from a professional piercer to insert a flatback stud. We're happy to do this in house or reach out to a respectable piercing shop local to you.

Why is stud pin pre-bent?

Well I'm glad you asked. As you force the pin into the flat back, it wants to straighten out thus creating tension.

How to insert flatback studs:

Push the flatback post through the BACK of your piercing.

Once the post is sticking out through the front of your piercing, carefully take the stud and insert the pre-bent pin into the post’s opening

Firmly push both ends together with your finger, then gently tug both ends to make sure they are secure.

And that's it! Now you've got security and comfort. If you ever want to switch out your stud, just carefully twist/pull the two pieces apart.
